  • Two female Biman Bangladesh Airlines cabin crew members face allegations of cheating passengers in the name of romance.
  • Victims claim they were defrauded of cash, gold, and valuable items through promises of marriage.
  • One victim filed a complaint with the airline management, while another has taken legal action in court.
  • Airline authorities have confirmed receipt of the complaints and started preliminary investigations.

Allegations Against Cabin Crew

Two Biman Bangladesh Cabin Crew, MST Mauri and Khadija Sultana Shimu, are accused of defrauding passengers in the name of love.

The victims include Nasir Ahmed, a Bangladeshi businessman based in Qatar, and Omar Faruq, a senior officer at a private airline in Bangladesh. Nasir filed a formal complaint with the airline’s Managing Director, while Omar also filed a court case.

According to the victims, Mauri and Shimu are close friends who often serve on the same flights. They allegedly use these opportunities to get close to business-class passengers, offer romantic proposals, and later extract cash, gold, iPhones, and other valuables by promising marriage. When pressured about marriage, they reportedly back off.

MST Mauri’s Statement

Mauri has denied the allegations entirely.

She said:

Translation:
“I have known him (Nasir Uddin) for a long time. Later he proposed to me. I said I would think about it because I know him first. Later, I realized he drinks a lot and makes strange calls. Seeing all this, I decided not to be in a relationship with him. Also, he never bought anything for me.”

Victim Statements and Evidence

Nasir Ahmed told,

Translation:
“Mauri and her crime partner Shimu are using the airline uniform and image to deceive high-profile professionals at each destination. They trap people in love schemes and steal money and honor. I want the airline to dismiss them and set an example, so no one dares to do such scams in the future.”

Omar Faruq said similar things about Shimu, alleging that she used promises of marriage and requests for personal photos and videos to blackmail him, eventually leading him to file a court case.

Details of the Alleged Scams

According to Nasir Ahmed, Mauri initially approached him in October 2024 in a hotel in Qatar, identifying herself as a Biman cabin crew member. She later proposed romance and asked him for shopping favors, gifts, and financial support during their trips between Doha, London, and Dhaka. The relationship ended when she reportedly started dating another partner and blocked Nasir.

Omar Faruq claims that Shimu obtained money, gold, and a diamond ring worth around 21.74 lakh Taka under the pretext of marriage promises. When he stopped providing funds, she allegedly refused marriage and attempted blackmail using private photos and videos.

Airline’s Response

ABM Rawshan Kabir, General Manager (Public Relations) of Biman, told Jago News:

“We have received the complaints. The Flight Service Department is conducting preliminary investigations against Mauri. If the allegations are substantiated, a departmental investigation will follow. We have also received complaints against Shimu and are aware that a court case has been filed against her.”
