A 21-year-old Honours student from Tejgaon Mohila College was found dead by hanging in her Khilgaon home. Police suspect family dispute as the cause. Legal procedures are underway.
The deceased has been identified as Tanisha Akter Laiju, aged 21, a second-year Honours student at Tejgaon Mohila College.
The tragic incident took place around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (July 6). She was brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state, where the on-duty doctor in the emergency department declared her dead.

Tanisha was the daughter of Mujibur Rahman from Shahapur village in Nabinagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria. She had been living in a rented house in Tilpapara with her husband, Faisal Ahmed, a government employee.
Tanisha’s father, Mujibur Rahman, said,
“I had married my daughter off to Faisal Ahmed, a government employee. Despite the marriage, she continued her Honours studies at Tejgaon Mohila College. Last night, following a family dispute, she locked herself in her room and hanged herself out of frustration. With the help of Khilgaon police, we rushed her to Dhaka Medical, but the doctors told us she was already gone.”
Sub-Inspector (SI) Al Amin of Khilgaon Police Station said,
“After receiving the report, we went to the scene. When we opened the door to the room, we found Tanisha hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf around her neck. She was taken to DMCH in an unconscious state, where doctors confirmed her death.”
He further added,
“Preliminary inquiries suggest that a family dispute with her husband may have led to the incident. However, to determine the exact cause of death, the body has been sent to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College for autopsy. Legal procedures are ongoing.”
