“I Was Told I’d End Up Like My Brother” — Abrar Fahad’s Brother Abrar Faiyaj

In a podcast interview, Abrar Faiyaz, the younger brother of BUET student Abrar Fahad who was tragically killed in 2019, revealed the kind of fear and pressure he experienced during his university life.

He said,

“আমি যখন বুয়েটে ভর্তি হই, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের দিক আসতে পারতাম না। আমাকে বলা হতো এদিকে আসলে তোর অবস্থাও তোর ভাইয়ের মতো হবে।”

Translation: “When I got admitted to BUET, I couldn’t go near Dhaka University. I was told that if I came this way, I would end up like my brother.”

His remarks have sparked emotional reactions online, with many expressing concern over the lasting atmosphere of fear surrounding student politics and campus safety.
