The holy month of Ramadan begins tomorrow, Sunday (March 2). Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has allowed 250 ml of water to be carried in the metro rail for passengers during Iftar on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. However, no other food can be taken inside the metro rail station or train.

This information is known from the notification regarding the schedule of metro rail movement in the holy month of Ramadan signed by Ahsan Ullah Sharif on February 27. It said that every passenger can carry only a 250 ml water bottle in the metro train and station area for drinking water during Iftar in holy Ramzan. But everyone should be careful that the water taken does not fall. Used water bottles must be disposed of in dustbins located on platforms or concourses or at entry and exit gates. The notification further states that under no circumstances shall any other food be taken inside the platform, concourse, and Metrorail. The schedule for Saturdays and other public holidays and Fridays will remain unchanged.
As per the schedule, the earliest train of the day will depart from Uttara North station at 7:10 AM, and the last train will depart at 9:00 PM. On the other hand, the first train from Motijheel will leave at 7:30 am, and the last train will leave at 9:40 pm. DMTCL said that according to this schedule, the metro rail will run for the entire month of Ramadan, i.e., till the day before Eid-ul-Fitr.
