Translation: “My downfall came because I was more popular than the senior leaders.”
She added that after Khaleda Zia gradually withdrew from politics due to illness and imprisonment, some people developed negative attitudes towards her and targeted her.
Rumeen Farhana pointed out the timing of her expulsion:
Translation: “The day Chairperson Khaleda Zia passed away, BNP expelled me. She died at 6 AM, and I was expelled at 4 PM the same day.”

The official reason was “violating party discipline,” but Rumeen Farhana says it was because she was a rebel candidate. BNP didn’t even wait for 10–15 days left to withdraw her nomination.
Rumin said she now feels mentally relieved:
Translation: “I am now free from the pressure of defending a failed party for 17 long years.”
She added that she faced harassment from both party insiders and online groups trying to please senior leaders. Rumin said:
Translation: “Being out of the party, I feel free from that pressure and harassment.”
For context, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia passed away on 30 December last year. On the same day, Rumin Farhana was expelled after she contested the Brahmanbaria-2 seat against BNP’s official candidate.
