Imam Spots the Danger and Calls for Help

During the quiet early morning hours, Imam Abdul Basid heard a loud crashing sound. When he came outside, he saw the car’s headlights glowing from underwater.

Realizing the danger, he quickly used the mosque loudspeaker to call villagers and ask for urgent help. He said,

“I saw the car’s light under the water and understood that we had to act immediately.”

Villagers Rush and Rescue All Seven Passengers

Within minutes, nearby residents ran to the pond. They jumped into the cold water, broke the car’s windows, and pulled the seven passengers out before the vehicle completely sank.

All rescued passengers were from the Hindu community and were traveling from Silchar to Tripura.

Local Scholars Praise the Imam’s Humanity

Local Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Hafiz praised Basid’s actions, calling it a symbol of humanity.

Imam Basid said he acted instinctively and without hesitation. He said,

“আমরা ধর্ম বা অন্য কিছু নিয়ে ভাবিনি। অগ্রাধিকার ছিল জীবন বাঁচানো।”
