Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in human rights and democracy. The announcement was made early on Saturday, March 29, local time, by members of the Pakistan World Alliance (PWA), according to Anadolu Agency.
It is noteworthy that the PWA an advocacy organization founded in December of last year, is connected to the Norwegian political party Partyt Sentrum. Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in democracy and human rights, the company said in a post on their social media platform X.

Imran Khan has received a lot of appreciation for his attempts to bring about peace in South Asia. For his efforts to promote peace in the area, he was previously nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019. After an eight-month procedure, the Norwegian Nobel Committee chooses a winner each year from hundreds of nominations.
He was the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2018 to 2022 and was the Founder and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from 1996 to 2023. The primary opposition party in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was founded by Imran Khan.
He was put in jail in August 2023. He was given a 14-year prison sentence in January 2025 for corruption and power abuse. Despite his ongoing incarceration in Pakistan, this nomination is regarded as an international acknowledgement of Imran Khan’s dedication to democracy and human rights.
