Sarjis Alam, chief organizer for the northern region of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (National Citizens’ Party), stated that they do not wish to view the interim government as weak. He emphasized that if the government portrays itself as fragile, it would be the greatest betrayal to the bloodshed of past uprisings.
He made these remarks on Monday (23 June) evening during a district coordination meeting organized by Jatiya Jubo Shakti’s Panchagarh unit, held at the hall room of the Panchagarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Sargis firmly stated that there will be no concessions regarding fundamental reforms before the elections. “We will not compromise on the trial of murderers, nor on the issuance of the July Declaration within the month of July,” he said.

He further added that when six of the seven leading parties agree on a single point of reform, any attempt by one party to dominate in front of the interim government or the consensus commission would render that government unacceptable. “We expect the government not to forget its responsibilities,” he stressed.
Outlining his expectations from the government, Sargis said, “We hope that before a fair election takes place in this country, we will witness the July Charter, receive the July Declaration, see fundamental and electoral reforms, and observe visible justice.”
