Although hilsa was freely exported earlier, hilsa is conditionally exportable in the National Export Policy of 2015 to increase supply to the country’s market. It remains the same for the next two export policies.
According to the data of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), in the fiscal year 2020-21, about 1 thousand 700 tons of hilsa export earned 1 crore 64 million dollars. Fish is exported at 10, 6 and 8 dollars per kg depending on the size.
In India, 82 rupees were matched against 1 dollar on Friday. According to that, the price of hilsa from Bangladesh at the price of 10 dollars has fallen to 820 rupees. If you calculate the exchange of rupees with taka, which stands at 902 taka. If you add transportation and other expenses to this, the cost can be a maximum of 1000 rupees. According to the export price, this 1000 rupees hilsa was sold in the wholesale market of Kolkata on Friday for 1600 to 1700 rupees. The value of which in Bangladeshi Taka is about 2100 Taka.
