Israeli Cabinet Approves Plan to Take Full Control of Gaza

Israeli

The Israeli Cabinet has approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to take full control of Gaza. Netanyahu stated that after the military operation, Gaza will not remain under Israeli rule but will be handed over to a civilian administration. Critics, including opposition leaders, have warned that this plan could cause more harm than good. Meanwhile, humanitarian concerns grow as the World Health Organization reports child starvation deaths in Gaza.

Israel’s Cabinet Approves Full Gaza Occupation Plan

The Israeli government has approved a new military plan to take complete control over Gaza. This decision was confirmed by a statement from the Prime Minister’s office on Friday, August 8, 2025.

According to the Times of Israel, the security cabinet has agreed to implement the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) plan for the occupation of Gaza.

Netanyahu’s Statement: “We Want to Remove Hamas, Not Rule Gaza”

In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Prime Minister Netanyahu clarified his strategy:

“আমরা গাজা থেকে হামাসকে উৎখাত করতে চাই। তবে আমরা গাজা নিজেদের কাছে রাখতে চাই না। আমরা সেখানে একটি নিরাপত্তা বেষ্টনী চাই, কিন্তু শাসন করতে চাই না।”
Translation: “We want to remove Hamas from Gaza. But we don’t want to keep Gaza. We want a security barrier there, but we don’t want to govern it.”

He also added:

“আমরা খুব শীঘ্রই যুদ্ধ শেষ করতে চাই। এটি দ্রুত শেষ হবে। যদি হামাস তাদের অস্ত্র সমর্পণ করে এবং জিম্মিদের মুক্ত করে, তাহলে আগামীকালই এটি শেষ হয়ে যেতে পারে।”
Translation: “We want to end the war very soon. It can end quickly. If Hamas surrenders and releases the hostages, it can be over tomorrow.”

Civilian Rule May Replace Hamas After War

Netanyahu said that the goal is not a long-term occupation. After the anti-terrorism mission, Gaza will be handed over to a civilian government, not Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.

“হামাস পরাজিত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত হামাসের বিকল্প আর কেউ গাজায় টিকে থাকতে পারবে না।”
Translation: “No one else can survive in Gaza as long as Hamas isn’t defeated.”

Opposition Leader Strongly Criticizes the Plan

Yair Lapid, the leader of the opposition in Israel, has sharply criticized Netanyahu’s plan. He believes it will worsen the situation.

“নেতানিয়াহুর এ প্রস্তাব যুদ্ধের প্রেক্ষাপট গতিময় করে তোলার সঙ্গে আরও জিম্মির মৃত্যুর কারণ হবে। এটি সেই সঙ্গে অঢেল অর্থের অপচয় বলেও মনে করেন তিনি।”
Translation: “Netanyahu’s proposal will intensify the war and may lead to more hostage deaths. It will also be a huge waste of money.”

Cabinet Lists Five Demands to End the War

The Israeli Cabinet outlined five main demands that must be met before ending the war:

  1. Disarm Hamas.

  2. Return the remaining 50 hostages (20 believed to be alive).

  3. Demilitarize Gaza.

  4. Establish Israeli security control in the area.

  5. Install a new civilian administration not led by Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza

Despite the military plans, the Israeli government says it will continue to provide humanitarian aid outside the war zones.

However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning about rising child starvation in Gaza. In the past month alone, 29 children under the age of five have reportedly died from hunger.
