In a dramatic development amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Israel has formally urged the United States to join its newly launched military campaign against Iran.
But Washington has firmly declined the request, according to a report by Axios, citing both Israeli and American officials. Over the past 48 hours, Israeli officials reportedly asked the administration of former US President Donald Trump to support its offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear and military sites. However, the US side has made it clear that it is not considering entering the conflict at this stage.
One senior American official confirmed the request and reiterated that the Trump administration currently has no intention of joining military action against Iran. According to sources, Israel is specifically seeking American involvement to strike Iran’s heavily fortified Fordo uranium enrichment facility, which lies deep underground and is believed to be outside the scope of Israeli military capability.
The Axios report also quoted a senior White House official as saying, “Whatever happens with Israel’s strikes on Iran cannot be prevented. But we have the ability to negotiate a successful peaceful resolution to this conflict if Iran is willing. The fastest way for Iran to accomplish peace is to give up its nuclear weapons program.”

The report further revealed that Trump had previously told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would consider targeting Fordo if it became the only option to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
However, the White House has since issued a denial, clarifying that Trump is not currently considering any military strike on Iran and stressing that now is not the time for such escalation.
This rejection of military involvement highlights the cautious stance Washington is maintaining, even as Israel accelerates its campaign against Iran, raising concerns of a wider regional conflict.
