From a Small Town to Google: The Inspirational Journey of Richita Khondokar Rifat
Richita Khondokar Rifat, a brilliant young woman from Bangladesh, is set to join one of the world’s most prestigious tech company Google as a Software Engineer at its Taiwan office.
A graduate of Jahangirnagar University’s Computer Science and Engineering Department, Richita’s achievement is not just a personal milestone but a powerful testament to what talent, dedication, and perseverance can accomplish.
Originally from Dinajpur, a district town in northern Bangladesh, Richita’s academic journey began at Dinajpur Government Girls’ High School, followed by Dinajpur Government College. She completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2014 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in 2016. She later got admitted to Jahangirnagar University in the 2016–17 academic year and is currently working as a Software Engineer at Samsung Bangladesh IIT Institute.
What makes her story truly inspirational is how her childhood passion for problem-solving and learning blossomed into a life-changing opportunity. From an early age, Richita was drawn to academic competitions specially science Olympiads and programming contests.
She participated in numerous contests during school and university, many of which she won both individually and as part of a team. These experiences laid the foundation for her technical strength, confidence, and problem-solving mindset.

Despite landing a role at Google, Richita humbly shares that she didn’t prepare in any traditional or intensive way. Instead, she relied on years of real experience:
“I didn’t prepare in the way people usually think. My previous experience in programming contests and Olympiads helped me. Before the test, I just reviewed how interviews are conducted, what kind of questions they ask, and how to communicate. That was all.”
When she received the offer letter from Google on June 12, her emotions were overwhelming.
“It’s hard to express how I felt. I was thinking about this opportunity for a long time, and finally, it happened. I’ve received so many congratulations from friends and well-wishers. I feel truly happy.”
But perhaps the most powerful part of Richita’s journey is her message to young people specially students and aspiring tech professionals:
“There’s no substitute for learning. No matter where you are school, college, or university learn as much as you can. Nothing you learn ever goes to waste. Eventually, everything becomes useful.”
Her story is a shining example of how far curiosity, persistence, and self-belief can take someone. She didn’t come from a major city or have access to elite institutions abroad. She built her career brick by brick, starting from small-town competitions to one of the biggest stages in global technology. Richita’s journey reminds us that talent knows no boundaries and that dreams, when chased with commitment and heart, do come true.
As she prepares to join Google on August 18, Richita Khondokar Rifat not only makes her family and university proud she becomes a role model for an entire generation of Bangladeshi youth.
