The body of Ahnnaf Tahmid Khan Rayyan, a student of the Economics Department at Jahangirnagar University, was recovered after the tragic bus accident at Daulatdia ferry ghat in Rajbari. On Thursday morning, family members and classmates identified his body at Rajbari Sadar Hospital. His mother’s body had been recovered earlier, and his elder sister remains in critical condition in hospital.
Emotional Facebook Post Spreads Widely
Following the heartbreaking incident, a previous Facebook status written by Ahnnaf began circulating widely online. In that post, he had written about his thoughts on death and life, which many people now find haunting and emotional. In the viral post, Jahangirnagar University Student Ahnnaf wrote that he had always considered death to be a natural part of life. He wrote,
“মৃত্যু আমার কাছে বরাবরই খুবই স্বাভাবিক একটা বিষয় মনে হয়। পৃথিবীতে এসেছি, একদিন চলে যাবো। এই তো।”
Translation: “Death has always seemed like a very normal thing to me. We come to this world and one day we leave. That’s all.”
However, he added that this thinking did not apply when it came to losing loved ones, especially family members. He shared that he had not experienced the deep pain of losing someone close until his father passed away.

Reflections on His Life and Upbringing
In the same post, Jahangirnagar University Student Ahnnaf wrote about his life, describing it as fulfilling despite not coming from a wealthy background. He said his parents supported him in every stage of his education and personal growth. He expressed,
“আমি খুবই হাই কোয়ালিটি একটা লাইফ পার করেছি ২৫ বছর ধরে।”
Translation: “I have lived a very high-quality life for 25 years.”
He credited his parents for providing him with freedom, support, and opportunities throughout his life. Toward the end of the post, he spoke about feeling inactive and mentally conflicted in recent times. He described living with mixed emotions—feeling both happy and sad at the same time:
“আমি তাই খুবই খুশি আমার এই জীবন নিয়ে আবার একই সাথে খুবই দুঃখী কারণ অনেক কিছু হারিয়ে ফেলেছি।”
Translation: “That is why I feel very happy about my life, yet at the same time very sad because I have lost so much.”
He ended his post with a prayer for his parents and all parents in the world:
“রাব্বির হামহুমা কামা রাব্বায়ানি সাগিরা।”
Translation: “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they raised me when I was small.”
