Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a nationwide peaceful protest program on Thursday (July 17), strongly condemning the terrorist attack on the National Citizens Party (NCP) rally and convoy in Gopalganj.
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former member of parliament Professor Mia Golam Parwar announced the program in a statement sent to the media on Wednesday (July 16).
In a statement, he said,
গোপালগঞ্জ জেলায় এনসিপির পূর্বঘোষিত ‘মার্চ টু গোপালগঞ্জ’ কর্মসূচিতে পতিত স্বৈরাচারের দোসর নিষিদ্ধ ঘোষিত ছাত্রলীগের সন্ত্রাসীরা নৃশংস হামলা চালিয়েছে। তারা এনসিপির নেতৃবৃন্দকে হত্যার উদ্দেশ্যে গাড়িতে হামলা করে এবং তাদের অবস্থানস্থল এসপি অফিসেও হামলা চালায়।
Translation: “The terrorists of the banned Chhatra League, who are allies of the fallen dictatorship, carried out a brutal attack on the NCP’s previously announced ‘March to Gopalganj’ program in Gopalganj district. They attacked the vehicle with the intention of killing the NCP leaders and also attacked the SP office where they were staying.”

Expressing strong protest against this terrorism and arson, Jamaat-e-Islami has called for peaceful protest programs in all districts and metropolitan cities of the country on Thursday.
