Mirpur, Dhaka: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said on Monday (13 October) that,
“জামায়াতে ইসলামীকে জাতীয় নির্বাচনে দেশের মানুষ জয়ী করলে জনগণ মালিক নয়, সেবক হবে।”
Translation: “If the people elect Jamaat-e-Islami in the national election, the people will not be owners; they will be served.”
He made the statement at a public meeting held in Mirpur 13, Dhaka.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the need for unity and equality in the country:
“এই বাংলাদেশে ধর্ম, বর্ণ বা জাতি বিভেদের কোনো ধরনের বৈষম্য আর দেখতে চায় না। আমি একটি ঐক্যবদ্ধ জাতি দেখতে চাই।”
Translation: “In this Bangladesh, we do not want any discrimination based on religion, color, or ethnicity. I want to see a united nation.”
“ফেসবুক, হোয়াটসঅ্যাপ, ইনস্টাগ্রাম—আজই শিখে ফেলুন ৫০ টাকায় ৫০ হাজার মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে যাওয়ার গোপন কৌশল!”
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman added that Jamaat-e-Islami, if given the opportunity, will work with citizens to stop wrongdoers:
“জামায়াতকে দেশবাসীর খেদমত করার সুযোগ দিলে জনগণকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে সমস্ত দুর্বৃত্তদের হাত অবশ করে দেয়া হবে। ব্যবসায়ীরা যেমন ব্যবসা করবে তেমনি চাকরিজীবীরাও তাদের জায়গায় চাকরি করবে। বাড়তি কেউ খবরদারি করার কোনো দুঃসাহস দেখাবে না।”
Translation: “If Jamaat gets the opportunity to serve the people, they will work with citizens to stop wrongdoers. Businessmen will do business, employees will work in their positions, and no one will dare to interfere unnecessarily.”
Dr. Shafiqur also warned about unfulfilled political promises:
“নির্বাচনের পূর্বে রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতারা বড় বড় কথা বলেন, তবে ক্ষমতায় গেলে সব প্রতিশ্রুতি ভুলে জনগণের অর্থ মেরে খান, বিদেশে পাচার করেন। আগামী নির্বাচনে দেশের মানুষকে সঠিক ও চরিত্রবান প্রার্থী বেছে নেয়ার আহ্বান জানাই।”
Translation: “Political leaders make big promises before elections, but once in power, they forget them, misuse public money, and send it abroad. I urge the people to choose honest and capable candidates in the upcoming election.”
