Jamuna Bridge Toll Collection Surges to an Impressive 2.57 Crore Taka in 24 Hours

Jamuna bridge is also known as Jamuna Multi Purpose bridge. Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the rush of homebound people has started to increase. As a result, the number of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail Jamuna Bridge highway has risen significantly, directly impacting toll collection.

Jamuna Bridge Toll Collection Surges as Eid Travel Peaks.

The Jamuna Bridge has earned 2 crore 57 lakh 11 thousand 550 taka in tolls during the past 24 hours. 29,233 cars traversed the bridge during this time. The executive engineer of the Jamuna Bridge site office, Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, verified this information on Wednesday morning, March 26.

15,354 cars crossed the Jamuna Bridge (Tangail) from the eastern section, bringing in 1 crore 27 lakh 79 thousand 100 taka in toll money. In the meantime, 13,879 cars passed from the western region (Sirajganj), and 1 crore 29 million 32 thousand 450 taka was collected in tolls.

18 toll booths, 9 on each side of the bridge, have been activated to reduce traffic and expedite toll collection. In addition, there are four distinct booths dedicated to motorbikes. It is hoped that this initiative will facilitate homebound travelers’ Eid journeys, said Executive Engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel.

More than 700 police officers have been sent in to guarantee efficient traffic movement on the route, according to Tangail Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman. This covers on-duty motorcycle and mobile teams. To improve surveillance, the route has also been split into four sectors. Additionally, he issued a warning that excessive fare collecting will be strictly enforced.
