Meeting Between Japanese PM Kishida and Dr. Muhammad Yunus

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida recently met with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh. The meeting was important for discussing ways to work closely between the two countries.

Cooperation for Regional Security

PM Kishida highlighted the importance of working with Bangladesh, saying, “Cooperation with Bangladesh, which faces the Indian Ocean, is vital for realizing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.” Both sides agreed in principle on an important deal related to defense. This agreement is called the Agreement concerning the Transfer of Defence Equipment and Technology, which will help improve security cooperation.

Support for Bangladesh’s Growth

Besides security, Japan will support Bangladesh’s efforts to build a stable nation by working together in other areas. PM Kishida said, “We will also advance cooperation in areas such as the economy, as well as trade and investment.” This shows Japan’s commitment to helping Bangladesh grow stronger economically.
