Proposal Submitted by BPC and Padma Oil
The decision came after price adjustment proposals were submitted earlier this year:
-
On 20 January, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) submitted their proposal.
-
On 18 February, Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL) also submitted their own pricing proposal for Jet A-1 fuel (aviation fuel).
Price Set Based on Flight Type
The submitted proposals were aimed at setting two types of pricing for jet fuel:
-
Duty-free rates for international airlines
-
Tax and VAT-included rates for domestic flights
These adjustments were made following the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act 2003 and are intended to align pricing with current market conditions.
Airlines May Face Cost Pressure
This increase in fuel prices may lead to higher operating costs for both domestic and international airlines. It remains to be seen whether this will affect ticket prices or flight operations in the coming days.
