On Monday morning (July 23), the main gate of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, was shut down. The restriction came a day after the nearby tragic plane crash incident involving students.
Due to the gate being closed, journalists and curious visitors were not allowed to enter the school premises.
Only Police and Guardians Allowed Inside
A security guard at the school told The Business Standard that no one except law enforcement officers and parents were being allowed in.
“আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী ও অভিভাবক ছাড়া কাউকে ঢুকতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না,”
“No one is allowed inside except police and guardians,” said the security guard.

Police Asked to Restrict Media Entry
Mohammad Rafiq, a member of Turag Thana’s community police, confirmed they had been given specific instructions to block journalists from entering the campus.
“আমাদের বলা হয়েছে সাংবাদিকদের ভেতরে ঢুকতে না দিতে এবং বাইরে অপেক্ষা করতে বলতে,”
“We were instructed not to let journalists inside and to ask them to wait outside,” said Rafiq.
Crowds Still Gather Outside
Just like the previous day, crowds of curious people gathered in front of the school again. Many included students, guardians, and local residents. Some people were seen trying to take photos and videos of the crash site through gaps in the gate.
Teachers and Staff Enter Freely
Despite the restrictions for the public and media, the school’s teachers and staff were seen entering the building without any problem.
School Authority Claims Unawareness
Interestingly, when asked about the media restriction, Milestone Group’s director Russell Talukder said he had no knowledge of any such order.
“এই (প্রবেশে নিষেধাজ্ঞা) বিষয়ে আমরা এখনও কিছু জানি না,”
“We are not aware of any restriction on entry,” said Russell Talukder.
