“July Doesn’t Belong to Anyone’s Father” — NSU Student Nafsin Speaks Out Against Party Control

NSU Student Nafsin

Nafsin Mehenaz Azirin, a protester and youth voice of the July Uprising, has said that no political party has the right to claim the July Declaration as their own. She stressed that July is for the common people of all parties, not the property of any one group.

No One Can Claim July Alone

In a recent video posted on her personal Facebook account, Nafsin said:

“July doesn’t belong to anyone’s father. It’s not the property of any political party. July belongs to all people, from all parties.”

She Questions the Right to Exclusive Declarations

Nafsin criticized those who try to control the July Declaration in their own way, ignoring the sacrifice of the people from different walks of life.

“This July uprising includes martyrs, the injured, students from private and madrasa institutions, schools, colleges, Hefazat members, journalists, workers, and even army officers—it belongs to everyone.”

She added that allowing a single party to present the declaration would be a disrespect to those who took to the streets selflessly.

People Fought Back Against Fascism

Talking about the July 18 movement, Nafsin said:

“People across Bangladesh witnessed July 18. Students were forced out of public university campuses. But we were the kind who responded with four hits when hit once—we protested to bring down fascism.”

She Questions the Courage Behind One-Sided Decisions

Nafsin strongly challenged the decision to present the declaration independently:

“Who gave you the right to take July for yourself? What gave you the courage to read out the July declaration on your own terms?”

She Demands a State-Level Declaration

She insisted that the July Declaration should come from the government and represent the entire country, not be used for political gain.

“The July Declaration must come through the government, in an official, national way.”

“Stop using the spirit of July to gain political advantage.”

Let the Spirit of July Stay Alive for Everyone

Ending on an emotional note, Nafsin, a student of North South University, called for unity and respect for July’s legacy:

“Let the July earned through the pain of our martyrs and wounded brothers live in the hearts of all Bangladeshis and may our love for July remain forever strong.”
