SI Kamal Hossain, accused in the case of three police sources being arrested with 48 bottles of Phensedyl in Chunati, Lohagara, Chittagong, has been withdrawn and attached to the police lines. The accused SI was awarded as the Anti-Drug officer in April this year. The arrested sources have alleged that SI Kamal gave them the Phensedyl for smuggling. The police have confirmed that an investigation is underway in the incident and legal action will be taken if evidence is found.
SI Kamal attached to police lines
SI Kamal Hossain has been withdrawn and attached to police lines after three police sources were caught with Phensedyl in Chunati, Lohagara, Chittagong. The decision was taken at around 7:30 pm on Friday (August 22). Lohagara Police Inspector (Investigation) Rabiul Alam Khan confirmed the matter.
It is noted that SI Kamal received the award from District Police Superintendent Md. Saiful Islam Santu as the best drug recovery officer in Chittagong district on April 22 this year.

Three sources arrested and Phensedyl seized
On Thursday (August 21), locals arrested three people with 48 bottles of Phensedyl in Chunati Bazar area of Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at around 1:30 am. They were later handed over to the army. A private car was also seized at that time.
The arrested are—
- Ramiz Uddin (35), Sukhchhari area, Amirabad 7th ward
- Nazim Uddin (45), Hossain Ali Matbar Bari, Lohagara Sadar
- Tajul Islam (49), Gazaria police station, Munshiganj district
Surprising claims of sources
Ramiz Uddin claims that the three are police sources. SI Kamal gave them the seized Phensedyl. The police officer asked them to take the Phensedyl to Aziz Nagar in the nearby Lama Upazila.
Arrested Ramiz Uddin said,
এসআই কামাল তাদের পেছনের একটি প্রাইভেটকারে ছিলেন। ওই গাড়ীর পেছনে ইয়াবা ছিল বলেও দাবি করেন আটক হওয়া ব্যক্তিরা। সামনের গাড়ি আটকের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তিনি পেছনের গাড়ি থেকে পালিয়ে যান বলে দাবি আটক সোর্সদের।
Translation: SI Kamal was in a private car behind them. The arrested persons also claimed that there was Yaba in the back of that car. The arrested sources claim that he fled from the car behind as soon as the car in front was seized.
Complaints and observations of locals
Local students said that some police members of Lohagara police station seized drugs but smuggled them without submitting them to the court, allegations that had been prevalent before.
Students of Chittagong South district came forward to verify the matter after receiving information from reliable sources. They were able to arrest the sources with Phensedyl in their hands after staying in the Chunati Bazar area for 8 hours from noon to night on Thursday.
Police Inspector (Investigation) of Lohagara Police Station, Rabiul Alam Khan, said that an investigation is underway against SI Kamal. If evidence is found, necessary action will be taken against him.
