Gazipur, January 2: In what seems to be a distressing turn of events, Keya Group, one of the biggest names when it comes to Bangladesh’s industrial eye, has certainly managed to air immense comparisons by announcing the closure of atleast four of its factories operating in Jarun Konabari gazipur. This decision comes to action on May 1, 2025 and can lead to massive unemployment as a result.
In what would have come as a disgustingly awful shock to the employees working there and to the entire labor market in Bangladesh to be good, the company had issued a notice on December 31 that all the payments which were due by workers, officers and employees would be paid within thirty working days of the closure of operations, etc. The displayed notice was again taken badly by the factory workers as it hung in the main gates of the factories buildings.
There are pretty much four factories, which will now be under the violence of the closure orders –
1. Keya Cosmetics Limited – Knit Composite Garments Division
2. Keya Cosmetics Limited – Knitting Division
3. Keya Cosmetics Limited – Spinning Division
4. Keya Yarn Mills Limited
There was a surplus in the garments, textiles and cosmetics produced by these particular factories. Their closure could prove harmful to the economy at large let alone this particular group.
