On Thursday, British monarch King Charles III welcomed Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor and Nobel Laureate, at the historic Buckingham Palace in London. The two engaged in a formal meeting during the visit.
This information was shared by the Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, who posted a photo of their meeting on Facebook.
In his post, Shafiqul wrote that King Charles has long held deep admiration for Professor Yunus’s work. The King has been profoundly inspired by Yunus’s pioneering role in microcredit banking, his tireless efforts to promote the concept of social business, and his call to save civilization through the “Three Zeros” movement — zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions.
The press secretary further revealed that King Charles III personally wrote the foreword to one of Professor Yunus’s books, which reflects the mutual respect and close friendship between the two.
Earlier, in a video statement, the press secretary mentioned that their conversation lasted for nearly half an hour. During the meeting, Dr. Yunus briefed King Charles III on the current situation in Bangladesh, among other wide-ranging discussions.
