Famous Bangladeshi author Rakib Hasan, the creator of the legendary “Tin Goyenda” series, passed away in Dhaka this afternoon (15 October 2025). He was 74 years old.
The news of his passing was confirmed by Masuma Maimur, adviser to Seba Prokashoni, the publishing house behind “Tin Goyenda.” The author’s death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from readers who grew up with his stories.
Final Moments and Official Confirmation
Rakib Hasan had long been suffering from age-related health complications. Both of his kidneys had failed, and he was undergoing regular treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi.
During one of his dialysis sessions, his heart suddenly stopped. Masuma Maimur shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, writing:
“গভীর শোকের সঙ্গে টিন গোয়েন্দা ও সেবা প্রকাশনীর পাঠকদের জানানো যাচ্ছে যে, রকিব হাসান আর নেই। ডায়ালাইসিস চলাকালীন অবস্থায় হঠাৎ হৃদযন্ত্র বন্ধ হয়ে তিনি শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেছেন।”
Translation: “With deep sorrow, we inform the readers of Tin Goyenda and Seba Prokashoni that Rakib Hasan has passed away. He breathed his last during dialysis when his heart suddenly stopped.”
She requested everyone to pray for his departed soul, adding that his Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Isha prayers at Basabo Mahasarak Jame Masjid, and he will be buried at Shahjahanpur Graveyard.

From Abdur Rakib to Rakib Hasan
Rakib Hasan was born as Abul Kashem Mohammad Abdur Rakib on 12 December 1950 in Cumilla, and spent his childhood in Feni. After completing his studies at Cumilla Victoria College, he tried several professions before discovering his true passion—writing.
He began his career at Seba Prokashoni, translating world classics such as “Arabian Nights” and “Tarzan.” His first book published under his name, “Jungle,” came out in 1977, a translation of Kenneth Anderson’s “This is the Jungle: More Tales of the Man-eaters.”
The Birth of ‘Tin Goyenda’
In August 1985, Seba Prokashoni published the first book of the “Tin Goyenda” series — a Bangladeshi adaptation inspired by Robert Arthur Jr.’s “The Three Investigators.”
But Rakib Hasan didn’t just translate — he transformed it. Through his storytelling, the series became deeply connected to Bangladeshi culture and imagination.
According to Wikipedia, Rakib Hasan wrote around 160 “Tin Goyenda” books, introducing readers to unforgettable characters — Kishore Pasha, Robin Milford, and Musa Aman — whose thrilling adventures shaped the childhoods of millions.
Other Works and Pseudonyms
Rakib Hasan wrote over 400 books, including two other popular series: “Tin Bondhu” and “Goyenda Kishore Musa Robin.”
He also wrote under several pseudonyms —
- Zafar Chowdhury for the “Romohorshok” series,
- Abu Sayeed for “Goyenda Raju,” and
- Shamsuddin Nawab, under which he translated Jules Verne and continued writing “Tin Goyenda.”
Throughout his career, he explored genres like horror, science fiction, and adventure, leaving an unmatched mark in Bangladeshi juvenile literature.
