Made in Bangladesh Solar Panels Now Exported to US

Solar Panels

First Shipment Sent to US Company CleanGrid

On 19 June 2025, a Bangladeshi company called Radiant Alliance sent its first shipment of solar panels to the United States. The shipment was delivered to CleanGrid Incorporation, a company based in the US. This is the beginning of a four-year export deal between the two companies.

Deal Worth Tk215 Crore for 64.60MW

According to Radiant officials, this export agreement is worth over Tk215 crore. Under this deal, Radiant will supply a total of 64.60 megawatts (MW) of solar panels by 2028. Out of this, 12.40MW will be delivered by the end of 2025.

Solar Panels Made in Ashulia, Savar

These solar modules are made at Radiant’s fully automated factory located in Ashulia, Savar. The factory can produce up to 600MW of solar panels each year and is one of the most advanced plants in Bangladesh. The modules come in different sizes, from 100Wp to 200Wp, and the plant can make panels ranging from 50Wp to 700Wp.

A Big Step for Bangladesh’s Renewable Energy Sector

Masudur Rahim, CEO of Radiant Alliance, Said,

“This is not just a company milestone – it’s a national achievement.”
He believes this step shows that ‘Made in Bangladesh’ products can compete globally in clean energy.

Experts in the industry said this move helps Bangladesh enter the global renewable energy supply chain, which is currently dominated by China, India, and Vietnam.

More International Orders Coming

Radiant officials mentioned that a new order of 300MW for the year 2026 is also under discussion. This shows that foreign buyers trust Bangladeshi-made solar panels.

Rahim said that Radiant has been making solar panels for more than 10 years, but earlier they were only for domestic use under the solar home system (SHS) program. Now, they have set up a new production line specifically for international markets, and it started working just a few months ago.

The company has already invested around $20 million (about Tk220 crore) into this plant.

Industry Leaders Proud and Hopeful

Golam Baki Masud, General Secretary of the Solar Module Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh (SMMAB), said,

“This was a dream. We’ve waited for this day. It shows Bangladesh can make high-quality renewable energy products for export.”

Masud also said that since the US has put anti-dumping duties on Chinese solar panels, it opens up a good opportunity for Bangladesh to supply to the US.

More Support Needed for Local Manufacturers

Munawar Misbah Moin, President of SMMAB and Managing Director of Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy, also said Radiant’s success is very encouraging.
He mentioned that although Bangladesh once exported small solar panels to Nepal, this new export to the US involves larger, better-quality panels, which require big investments.

However, local manufacturers face difficulties in their own country. Low-cost and low-quality imported panels are flooding the domestic market. This makes it hard for local producers to compete. Moin added that there is no strong quality control in place.

Call for Policy Support

To help the local solar industry grow, the SMMAB has been asking the government to set a mandatory quota system. This would mean that a fixed percentage of solar panels used in government solar projects (like schools, hospitals, and utility plants) must be bought from Bangladeshi manufacturers.

Moin explained,

“We are not asking for special treatment. We just want fair policies that help this new industry grow.”
