As part of this initiative, Tk 40,000 was distributed among 40 students at Gopalpur Usmania Talimul Quran Madrasa. Each student received Tk 1,000. Complaints from Parents

Several parents complained that the money was given directly to the students, not to the madrasa. When the matter became widely known, the madrasa head reportedly said the money would be used to buy iftar for the students during Ramadan.

One student, requesting anonymity, said:

“আমাদের উপহার স্বরূপ ১০০০ টাকা করে কিছুলোক দিয়ে গেছেন, উনারা চলে যাওয়ার পর হুজুর আমাদের থেকে টাকাটা নিয়ে নেয়।”

Translation: “Some people gave us Tk 1,000 each as a gift. After they left, the teacher took the money back from us.”

Parents Demand the Money Be Returned

A parent, Mehedi Hasan, said he had often heard about irregularities at the madrasa, but this incident was especially unacceptable. He said the money belonged to orphan students, and it should not have been taken from them.

Another guardian, Sarwar Hossain, also criticized the action, saying that such donations are rare and especially important during Ramadan. He demanded that the money be returned to the students immediately.

Madrasa Teacher’s Statement

Teacher Abdur Rob confirmed that the money had been collected from the students. However, he said the madrasa head told them it would be used to arrange iftar for the students. Attempts were made several times to contact the madrasa head, Nurul Alam, for his response to the allegations. However, he did not answer phone calls.
