Madrasa Resistance Day: Madrasa Students Finally Honoured for Bloodshed in July Uprising

Madrasa Resistance Day

For the first time, the Government of Bangladesh is officially recognizing the courage and sacrifice of madrasa students who stood against the oppressive forces during the July Uprising. Many of them lost their lives, facing bullets with their bare chests in defence of their beliefs and values.

Especially in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area, the roads turned red with the blood of these young madrasa students. To remember their heroic resistance, the government is set to observe “Madrasa Resistance Day” on Monday, July 21.

Joint Initiative to Celebrate ‘Madrasa Resistance Day’

The Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, and the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy are jointly organizing the observance of this historic day. They have finalized a detailed program in coordination.

Preparations are ongoing to host a major event on the road near Ibn Sina Hospital in the Jatrabari area, where many of these brave students were martyred.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Education, this will be the first time the government is officially recognizing the heroic role of madrasa students on a national platform.
