During a rally demanding a separate Cumilla Division, one participant made a funny speech about Noakhali.
He said:
“নোয়াখালী কুমিল্লার চেয়ে এগিয়ে ভাই ভালো কথা, আপনারা নোয়াখালীর নামে বিভাগ না চাইয়া আপনারা নোয়াখালী একটা দেশ বানান তাইলে ভালো হয়। যেহেতু আপনারা কুমিল্লার চাইতে আগাইয়া আছেন অসুবিধা নাইতো।”
Translation: “Noakhali is ahead of Cumilla, brother, that’s a good thing. Instead of asking for a division in Noakhali’s name, you should make Noakhali a country; that would be better. Since you are ahead of Cumilla, there’s no problem.”

The man again said,
“সরকার যদি পার্টিশান কইরা আপনাগোরে একটা দেশ বানায় দেয় তাইলে তো আপনি কুমিল্লার উপরেই থাকবেন নাকি? নোয়াখালি যাইতে যদি পাসপোর্ট লাগে নোয়াখালি দেখার মতো যদি কিছু থাকে তাইলে আমেরিকা না যাইয়া নোয়াখালি যামু।”
Translation: “If the government partitions and makes you a country, then you will be above Cumilla, right? If visiting Noakhali requires a passport, and if there’s something worth seeing there, then I will go to Noakhali instead of America.”
