Martin Raiser declares support for Bangladesh’s inclusive growth

The World Bank Vice President for South Asia, Martin Raiser, today (13 February) declined his visit to Bangladesh and reasserted the World Bank’s support for economic modifications for the country’s comprehensive and defensible growth and development.

The chief adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, met with the contributor and rehearsed the World Bank’s pledge to the people of Bangladesh and provided continuous support to make the foundations for economic reliability, job opportunity, climate resilience, and enhanced public service. He updated the chief adviser on the ongoing and organized World Bank support in Bangladesh.

The significance Raiser highlights is using this political transition period to advance developments in governance and transparency that could lay the foundations for a fairer Bangladesh.

From the September 2024 floods, the new World Bank extension is being readied to help with the recovery, simplify the stresses in the energy, and address the developing air pollution in Bangladesh.

 

In the midst of the visit, Raiser also met with the finance adviser, energy adviser, Bangladesh Bank governor, chairman of the National Board of Revenue, and representatives from civil society and the private sector to converse about the pressing challenges and development priorities of the government.
