Massive Fire in Faridpur
A devastating fire burned down around 20 shops at Kadirpur Bazar in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur on Saturday night (October 18). The fire started around 10 p.m., leaving the entire marketplace in ashes. The extent of losses and a complete list of affected shop owners are yet to be confirmed.
Fire Started from a Clothing Shop
According to locals and fire service sources, the fire originated from Nasir’s clothing store located in Bachchu Molla Market. Within a short time, the flames spread to nearby shops including grocery stores, pharmacies, tea stalls, shoe shops, and seed stores — completely burning them down.
Local people and the Boalmari Fire Service team worked together to bring the fire under control after hours of effort.

Locals Blame Delayed Fire Service Response
Local resident Nishikanta Das claimed that the fire service team reached the spot almost an hour after being informed. The losses are estimated to be at least one crore taka.
Several Shops and Houses Burned Down
Former UP member of Ward No. 1, Satoir Union, Md Faruk Hossain, said it was not yet clear how the fire started.
“আপনার ব্যবসা এখন অনলাইনে— Storola-এর সাথে সহজ ও স্মার্টভাবে!”
Fire Service Still Investigating
Boalmari Fire Service firefighter Himangshu Shekhar Biswas stated that they were still working at the scene.
“খবর পেয়ে আমরা ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণের চেষ্টা করছে। কাজ চলমান রয়েছে। বিস্তারিত তথ্য পরে জানানো হবে।”
Translation: “After receiving the news, we reached the site and began trying to control the fire. Our work is still ongoing. Detailed information will be shared later.”
“সাধারণ ডিম বিক্রি করে আমরা কীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষ কাস্টমার এনেছি—এই বইয়ে আছে তার বাস্তব কাহিনি!”
Confirming the incident, Rashedul Alam, in-charge of Madhukhali Fire Service, said:
“২০টির মতো দোকান পুড়ে গেছে। খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণের চেষ্টা করা হয়। আগুনের সূত্রপাত কীভাবে, তা জানা যায়নি।”
Translation: “About 20 shops were burned. After getting the news, we went to the spot to control the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown.”
He added that the identities of the affected shop owners and the total losses would be determined after a detailed investigation.
