The investigation committee has confirmed that three BPL franchises—Durbar Rajshahi, Sylhet Strikers, and Dhaka Capitals—were involved in fixing during the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Several players, officials, and even a broadcast company have also come under suspicion. The report will soon be submitted to BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul.
Shocking Reports of Fixing
A report published by Prothom Alo revealed disturbing details of match-fixing during the last BPL season. It mentioned that losing just one match could bring in Tk 400 crore for the fixers. These revelations have created huge controversy in Bangladesh cricket.
Suspicious Incidents Identified
The investigation committee, which was assigned to look into fixing, found 36 suspicious incidents during the last season. Around 10–12 cricketers were named in the report, including:
-
3–4 high-flagged players, with strong evidence against them.
-
2 national team players—one pacer and one off-spinner.
-
A domestic pacer accused of bowling abnormal wides.
Investigators said they are almost certain about the involvement of the high-flagged players, while the medium-flagged and low-flagged players cannot be fully cleared either.

Most of the accused players are above 35 years of age, meaning they no longer have chances of returning to the national team. However, the report also mentions the name of one player from the recent Sri Lanka tour squad, which has raised more concern.
Officials and Committee Members Involved
The fixing allegations are not limited to players. The report also includes the name of a member of a BCB sub-committee, who was directly linked with one of the franchises last season.
Franchises Confirmed in Fixing
The committee has confirmed involvement of three franchises in match-fixing:
-
Durbar Rajshahi
-
Sylhet Strikers
-
Dhaka Capitals
Until proven innocent, these BPL franchises, players, and officials will be recommended to stay away from cricket activities.
Broadcasters Under Suspicion
The fixing controversy has also touched broadcasting companies. Channels that aired betting advertisements are under investigation. Reports suggest that one channel earned Tk 170–180 crore through these illegal ads.
All these findings have seriously damaged the reputation of BPL. The investigation report will be submitted soon to BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul. Once received, actions against guilty players, franchises, and companies are expected to begin.
