The countless unread messages on WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, can sometimes be a source of frustration for users. To solve this problem, tech giant Meta has launched an innovative and smart feature “Message Summaries”.
This feature will automatically generate a summary of the unread messages in the user’s chat list with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and present it directly. As a result, important messages can be understood at a glance, saving time and reducing the hassle of unnecessary messages.
Privacy is a Top Priority
According to the information provided by Meta, the “Message Summaries” feature has been developed based on “Private Processing” technology. Through this, even though a summary of the message is created, the user’s privacy will be fully protected.

This summary will only be seen by the relevant user. The person with whom the chat was held will not know any information about it. Even Meta or WhatsApp authorities will not be able to see this information.
Meta’s blog post says,
‘আপনার মেসেজগুলো সম্পূর্ণ সুরক্ষিত থাকবে, এমনকি যখন আপনি এআই-এর সাহায্য নিচ্ছেন তখনও।’
Translation: “Your messages will be completely secure, even when you’re using AI.”
How to enable the feature
This feature will not be activated automatically. The user will have to enable it on their own initiative. For this:
WhatsApp Settings>Chats > Private Processing>Message Summaries
The feature is currently available to English-speaking users in the United States. Meta says it will soon expand to more countries and languages. Technology analysts believe that this initiative to use artificial intelligence while protecting personal privacy is part of Meta’s AI-centric future plans.
