Tragic Incident at Farmgate Metro Station

A tragic accident occurred near Farmgate Metro Rail Station this afternoon when a heavy object fell from the station structure and hit a young man on the road below. Police confirmed that the man died on the spot, but his identity has not yet been determined.

Police Confirmed the Death

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mobarak Hossain of Tejgaon Police Station said the incident took place around 12:30 pm. The OC said,

“The victim’s name and identity could not be known immediately”

Metro Operations Suspended After the Accident

Following the incident, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) suspended metro rail services as a safety measure.
Iftikhar Hossain, General Manager (Operation) of DMTCL, told:

“A bearing pad had fallen from the upper structure of the Farmgate station. As a safety measure, metro rail services have been halted from 12:30 pm.”

When asked about the fatality, Iftikhar said that DMTCL was not aware of any death so far.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and have temporarily stopped train movement to ensure passenger safety. The area around Farmgate station remains crowded, and additional police have been deployed.
