Metro rail services from Karwan Bazar to Agargaon have been suspended due to a technical glitch. Train services in this section were suddenly suspended at 9:10 pm on Wednesday. MRT-6 Deputy Director (Public Relations) Ahsanullah Sharifi confirmed the matter to reporters,

Cause and circumstances of the incident
Metro officials said that a ‘jerk’ was felt at 9:10 pm after a bearing pad fell off in the Farmgate area. Train services from Karwan Bazar to Agargaon were suspended for safety reasons.

However, authorities said that the metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon is running normally. According to information received till 10 pm, metro services have not yet started in the closed section. Eyewitnesses said that passengers returning from the metro station were in extreme distress. The level of suffering was further compounded by the night rain and overcrowding in the buses.

Metro Timetable and Current Status
As per the schedule, the last train leaves Uttara North station at 9:30 PM, and the last train leaves Motijheel at 10:10 PM. DMTCL sources said that there is no possibility of Metro Rail starting in Agargaon-Shahbag section tonight, hence it is expected that the movement in that section will remain suspended till tonight.
