Since its inception, metro rail has gained popularity, and the National Board of Revenue has exempted its tickets from value-added tax. Today, the tax administration issued an order announcing the exception on metro train fares. This decision was made almost six months after the benefit was discontinued.
This year’s VAT exemption will remain in effect until December 31. Metro rail passengers were excused from paying VAT on their fares until June 30 of last year. Metro rail officials requested an extension of the incentive, but the NBR refused.
