Parents Present Their Demands

On Sunday afternoon, parents gathered at the administrative building of Milestone School and College to present a briefing with their demands.

Earlier, they tried to submit a memorandum to the principal and advisors with 8 specific demands, but the school authorities did not accept it.

The 8 demands of the parents are:

  1. Conduct a proper investigation of the plane crash and punish the responsible.

  2. Stop coaching business in Milestone and all other educational institutions in the country.

  3. Government to provide 5 crore BDT per deceased student’s family and 1 crore BDT per injured student’s family.

  4. School authorities to provide 2 crore BDT per deceased family and 1 crore BDT per injured family.

  5. Relocate educational institutions near the runway or provide alternative arrangements.

  6. Remove and take action against the headmistress Khadija within 72 hours for involvement in coaching business.

  7. Publish the school’s CCTV footage of the incident.

  8. Move Air Force training activities to an unpopulated area.

Security Hurdles During Memorandum Submission

Parents claimed that they had prior permission to submit the memorandum. However, security guards blocked them at the campus entrance. Despite this, they entered the conference room, but the school officials refused to accept the memorandum in front of journalists.

“আমরা তিন-চারজনের প্রতিনিধিদলকে স্মারকলিপি দিতে বলেছিলাম। কিন্তু অনেক অভিভাবক একসঙ্গে প্রবেশ করায় বিশৃঙ্খলার পরিস্থিতি তৈরি হয়।”

Families Demand Justice and Accountability

Parents left the campus without submitting the memorandum. Around 12-15 family members of the deceased were present, including Afiya’s mother, Fatema’s maternal uncle, Faizar’s father, and Tanvir Ahmed’s father.

The college authorities expressed sympathy and stated that they would review the parents’ demands carefully and consider appropriate action.

“কর্তৃপক্ষ ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পরিবারগুলোর প্রতি সহমর্মী এবং তাদের দাবিগুলো পর্যালোচনা করে বিবেচনা করবে।”
