One More Person Hospitalized in Serious Condition

A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Harinchhara Tea Garden area of Sreemangal, Moulvibazar. Four young men lost their lives, and another was seriously injured after entering a septic tank to recover a mobile phone that had fallen inside.

The Incident Happened on Wednesday Evening

The accident took place around 7:30 PM on Wednesday (July 9, 2025), at the septic tank of a residential house in the area.

Who Were the Victims?

The four who died were identified as:

  • Rana Nayek (17)

  • Shrabon Nayek (19)

  • Krishna Robidas (20)

  • Nipen Fulmali (27)

This information was confirmed by Boishishto Goala, a member of the Rajghat Union Parishad.

One Person Entered First—Then Others Followed

According to local sources, it all began when a mobile phone accidentally fell into the septic tank. One person went down to get it. But when he didn’t come back, four others entered one by one to help. Sadly, all of them lost consciousness inside the tank, likely due to toxic gas.

They were quickly taken to the Moulvibazar 250-Bed Hospital, but doctors declared four of them dead on arrival. One person is still being treated at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Police: Investigation Underway

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aminul Islam of Sreemangal Police Station confirmed that the bodies have been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
He said,

“We are investigating how exactly the incident happened.”
