A court has issued a travel ban on Mostafa Kamal, the Chairman of Meghna Group. The order was given on Tuesday (27th May) by Dhaka Metropolitan Judge Md. Zakir Hossain. This decision was made following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Confirms Court Order
The information was confirmed by Akhtarul Islam, the Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department of the ACC.
Allegations of Corruption Involving CSR Funds
In the application submitted by the ACC, it was mentioned that there are allegations of corruption and irregularities involving the use of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds from various banks. These funds were allegedly misused through a foundation called “Suchona Foundation.”
The foundation is chaired by Saima Wazed Putul, the daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. According to the ACC, there is an ongoing investigation into the misuse of these funds for personal gain and political purposes.
The ACC also said that members of the Sheikh Hasina family, including her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, are being looked into for possibly helping in using government funds to serve political agendas.

Mostafa Kamal Accused and Missing
The ACC stated that Mostafa Kamal is linked to the allegations and is currently missing. Reliable sources have informed the ACC that he may try to flee the country with his family.
Travel Ban Needed for Proper Investigation
According to the ACC, if Mostafa Kamal leaves the country, it could seriously affect the investigation process. To make sure the investigation can continue smoothly and properly, the ACC requested the court to stop him from going abroad.
The court accepted this request and has now officially banned Mostafa Kamal from leaving the country.
