In a remarkable event, a woman from Barishal has given birth to five babies at once through a normal delivery. Among the newborns, three are boys and two are girls.
The birth took place on Monday (October 6) at the Barishal Diabetic Hospital’s maternity ward. After delivery, all five newborns were shifted to the Neonatal Ward of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for specialized medical care.

First Time in Barishal Without Surgery
This is believed to be the first time in Barishal that five babies were born together without any surgery. The event has drawn the attention of people across the region, creating a wave of excitement and curiosity.
The mother, Lamia Akter, a 22-year-old housewife from Chandkathi village in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali, said she and her husband initially believed they were expecting three babies.
“বিয়ের পর তারা জানতেন যে আমার গর্ভে তিনটি সন্তান রয়েছে। তবে সোমবার সকালে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হওয়ার পর জন্মের পর জানা যায়, একসাথে আমি পাঁচ সন্তানের মা হয়েছি।”
Translation: “After marriage, we thought I was carrying three babies. But after giving birth, we were surprised to know that I had five!”)
Lamia expressed gratitude and joy at the birth of her children, calling it a blessing for their family.
