A student was killed in a stabbing incident at Prime Asia University’s Banani campus in Dhaka. The fight broke out between students of the English and Textile Engineering departments.
The victim was Jahidul Islam Parvez, a 23-year-old student from the 223 batch of the Textile Engineering department. He was from Mymensingh.
What Happened: A Small Argument Turned Deadly
According to Banani Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Russel Sarwar, the conflict started after 4 PM on Saturday. Students from the English and Textile departments got into a fight. During this time, Parvez was stabbed and seriously injured.
Parvez’s friends from the Textile department said some outsiders joined the attack and stabbed him in the chest.
A video shared by students shows Parvez sitting in a chair, holding his stomach, bleeding heavily. His friends were trying to talk to him and check if he was still responding.
Rushed to Hospital but Didn’t Survive
Parvez was quickly taken to Kurmitola Hospital by his friends. But on the way, his condition worsened. By the time they reached the hospital, doctors said he had already passed away.

What Led to the Fight
Some students said the incident began when Parvez and his friends were eating snacks near the campus. Two new female students from the English and International Hospitality Management departments, along with two girls from another university (University of Scholars), were nearby.
The two girls claimed that Parvez was harassing them. They reported this to the university’s proctor (disciplinary officer). Parvez was called to the proctor’s office, where he explained that he was simply joking with his friends and did not disturb anyone. Still, he was asked to apologize, and he did.
Stabbed After Leaving the Proctor’s Office
Students say that after leaving the proctor’s office, some outsiders arrived and attacked Parvez. One of them stabbed him in the chest with a sharp object and ran away.
Again, Parvez was rushed to the hospital, but doctors confirmed he was already dead when he arrived.

Reactions from Campus and Social Media
Parvez’s body was later sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue at night. Around 11 PM, many students gathered in front of the Banani campus, expressing shock and anger.
A student group called Private University Student Alliance of Bangladesh posted about the incident on Facebook, calling it a “terrorist attack” and demanded justice. They also shared a photo of Parvez.
What the Authorities Said
University proctor Mosharraf Hossain said it was an “unfortunate incident” but did not give more details. Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the attackers or arrested anyone.
A place of learning like a university should be safe and peaceful. But this violent attack not only took the life of a young student but also raised serious concerns about campus safety. Parvez’s family, friends, and fellow students are heartbroken and asking for justice.
Family in Deep Shock
Parvez’s family is devastated by the news of his sudden death. They said he was a bright student with big dreams for the future. He came to Dhaka to build a better life through education, but instead, his life was taken away in a cruel and unfair way. His parents are demanding justice and asking the authorities to find the killers quickly.
Students Demand Justice
Many students from Prime Asia University and other private universities are now raising their voices. They are protesting and asking the police to arrest the attackers. They also want better security on campus so that such violence never happens again. Some students say they feel unsafe and afraid to come to classes after what happened to Parvez.
