Police in Patuakhali’s Kalapara upazila have recovered the hanging body of a young tailor named Lokman Sardar (32). A note was found near his body, where he expressed frustration over his wife’s constant demand for money and lack of love. Family members believe he took his own life due to despair. Police have sent the body for autopsy and said legal steps will be taken if any complaint is filed.
Incident in Kalapara
On Saturday night (16 August) around 10 PM, police recovered the body of Lokman Sardar (32) from a rented house at Nilganj union in Kalapara upazila. Lokman was a tailor by profession and the son of Jakir Sardar from West Sonatala village under the same union.
According to police, the body was found hanging with a scarf tied to a ceiling fan inside the rented house near Pakhimara Bazar.

The Note Found Near the Body
Police also recovered a handwritten Suicide Note beside the body. In the note, Lokman expressed his pain about his wife’s behaviour:
“আমার বউ টাকা টাকা করত। আর আমার কথা শুনত না। আমাকে মিথ্যা ভালোবাসত। তা আমি জানতাম। আমি বুঝে গেছি, আমার টাকা না থাকলে শেষে আমাকে ছেড়ে যাবে। তাই আমি মরে গেলাম।”
Translation: “My wife always demanded money. She never listened to me. She pretended to love me, and I knew it. I realized that without money she would eventually leave me. That is why I ended my life.”
However, police have not yet confirmed if the note was indeed written by Lokman himself.
Family’s Statement
Relatives of Lokman believe that he killed himself due to frustration. According to them, his wife’s lack of affection and his financial struggles pushed him into despair, which ultimately led him to take his own life.
Police Statement
Kalapara Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jewel Islam confirmed the recovery of the body. He said:
“লোকমান নামের ওই যুবকের মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য পটুয়াখালী সদর হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠানো হয়েছে। এ ঘটনায় অভিযোগ পেলে তদন্ত করে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হবে।”
Translation: “We recovered the body of the young man named Lokman and sent it to Patuakhali Sadar Hospital for autopsy. If any complaint is filed, we will investigate and take legal steps accordingly.”
