A General Diary (GD) has been filed at Mirpur Model Police Station against Bangladesh national team pacer Taskin Ahmed, accusing him of physically assaulting and threatening a man named Sifatur Rahman Sourav. The incident reportedly took place around 9:30 PM on July 27 near Mirpur-1.
After the complaint was lodged, police began investigating the matter. However, Taskin strongly denied the allegations and claimed that he was being harassed intentionally.
Taskin Responds: “It’s All False”
In a statement to Bangla Tribune, Taskin said:
“আমার বিরুদ্ধে যে অভিযোগ করা হয়েছে পুরোটাই মিথ্যা। আমি বাসা পরিবর্তন নিয়ে ব্যস্ত। আমি ওদের মারিনি। ওরা আমার নামে মিথ্যা জিডি করে আমাকে বিব্রত করার চেষ্টা করছে।”
“The allegations against me are completely false. I was busy shifting homes. I didn’t hit anyone. They’ve filed a false GD to harass me.”

Taskin Files a Counter Allegation
Taskin claimed that his friend “Rossi” was attacked by Sourav and his group, which led him to call the Mohammadpur Police Station for help.
“আমার বন্ধু রসি নামে একজন আছেন, ওরা আমার এই বন্ধুকে মেরেছে। তাই আমি মোহাম্মদপুর থানার ওসি সাহেবকে ফোন করেছিলাম। পুলিশ গিয়ে ওদেরকে মোহাম্মদপুরে খুঁজেছে। এজন্য এরা উল্টো আমার নামে জিডি করেছে।”
“My friend Rossi was beaten up by them. That’s why I called the Mohammadpur OC. Police went to find them, and now they’ve filed a GD against me in revenge.”
Taskin Explains the Backstory
Taskin mentioned that a relative of Sourav contacted his father regarding an old issue, which escalated unnecessarily.
“ওর খালা আমার বাবাকে ফোন দিয়ে বিচার দিয়েছিল। কিছু কথা ওরা রেকর্ড করেছে। আমার বাবা আবার ওই ঘটনার কিছুই জানতো না। উনি পরে শুনে কিছু কথা বলেছে। সাথে এটাও বলেছে, ‘ওরা ছোট বেলার বন্ধু, একসাথে মিলে মিশে থাকবে।’ আসলে গত কয় মাস ধরে ওদের সাথে এখন মিশি না, তাই এখন ওর মাথা খারাপ হয়ে গেছে।”
“Sourav’s aunt called my father to complain. Some conversations were recorded. My father didn’t know much but said we were childhood friends and should stay united. But I’ve been distant for months, so now he’s acting out.”
The Original Allegation
According to the filed complaint, Taskin called Sourav to Mirpur-1 and allegedly punched and assaulted him physically. The GD also includes claims of threats and verbal abuse. Police sources confirmed that Taskin and Sourav previously shared a friendly relationship.
Police Comments on the Case
Mirpur Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Sajjad Hossain said:
“সনি সিনেমা হলের সামনে রবিবার রাতে মারধর করেছেন বলে একটি অভিযোগ আমরা পেয়েছি। অভিযোগের সত্যতা আমরা তদন্ত করে দেখছি।”
“We received a complaint about an assault that took place in front of Sony Cinema Hall on Sunday night. We are currently verifying the truth.”
BCB Also Aware of the Incident
BCB Director and Chairman of the Media & Umpires Committee, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, said the board is already aware and looking into the issue.
“মিডিয়াতে নিউজটা সকালে দেখলাম। আমাদের আমিনুল ইসলাম বুলবুল এবং ফাহিম ভাইও দেখেছে। এটা নিয়ে অলরেডি তদন্ত শুরু হয়ে গেছে। এটা যদি ঘটে থাকে তাহলে সেটা খুব দুঃখজনক। আইকন প্লেয়ারের এসবে জড়ানো উচিত না। আমি এই ব্যাপারে আর মন্তব্য করতে চাচ্ছি না। কী হয়েছে সেটা আগে বের হোক।”
“I saw the news this morning. So did Bulbul bhai and Fahim bhai. Investigation has already started. If this really happened, it’s very unfortunate. An icon player shouldn’t be involved in such matters. I don’t want to comment further until the facts are clear.”
What Happens Next?
As both parties continue to make claims and counterclaims, the police investigation will determine the outcome. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked concerns over public figures being involved in such controversies.
