To honour the brave students who sacrificed their lives during the anti-discrimination movement, the National University is introducing a new scholarship program called ‘জুলাই শহিদ স্মৃতি শিক্ষাবৃত্তি’ (July Martyrs Memorial Scholarship).
Scholarship to Be Officially Launched on July 1
The scholarship will be formally launched tomorrow, July 1 (Tuesday), by the Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Karobi Hall of Dr. Yunus’s office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
Part of a 36-Day National Program
According to the College Monitoring and Evaluation Department of the National University, the scholarship is part of the ‘July Memorial Events 2025’ announced by the government.
As part of this, the university will observe various programs from July 1 to August 5, lasting for 36 days. The scholarship event will be the first program in this series.

Scholarship Cheques Will Be Handed Over
During the ceremony, scholarship cheques will be distributed to the selected students.
From this event, the government will also officially announce the beginning of the July Memorial Events across the country.
Live Broadcast in Colleges
The National University has instructed all affiliated college principals and presidents to either live broadcast or show a recorded version of the event on big screens or multimedia setups at their campuses.
Aim: To Inspire Patriotism in the New Generation
The university is hopeful that this project could help the next generation know about the martyrs’ valiant acts of opposition, sacrifice, and patriotism.
It will inspire students to love their country and will ensure that the memories of these martyrs remain alive forever.
