NCP leaders and activists have blocked the Dhaka-Bhanga-Khulna Expressway highway in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur and protested by burning tires in protest against the blockade of the central leaders of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in Gopalganj.
The blockade program began in front of the Bhanga Highway Police Station at 5 pm on Wednesday (July 16). The protesters said that the program will continue until their demands are met. In particular, they will not lift the blockade until the blockaded central leaders are safely released.

In this regard, Bhanga Upazila Chief Coordinator Ashraf Hossain said,
এনসিপির শান্তিপূর্ণ পদযাত্রায় আমাদের কেন্দ্রীয় নেতাদের গাড়ি বহরে হামলা, তাদের গোপালগঞ্জ পুলিশ সুপারের কার্যালয়ে অবরুদ্ধ করে রেখেছে আওয়ামী লীগের সন্ত্রাস বাহিনী, তাদের মুক্তি না দেওয়া পর্যন্ত আমাদের এ অবরোধ চলতে থাকবে।
Translation: “The convoy of our central leaders during the peaceful march of the NCP was attacked and they are being blocked by the Awami League’s terrorist forces at the office of the Gopalganj Police Superintendent. Our blockade will continue until they are released.”
During the protest, angry activists filled the entire highway with slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad”.
In this regard, Bhanga Highway Police Station OC Rakibuzzaman told Kalbela,
এনসিপি নেতাকর্মীরা টায়ার জ্বালিয়ে সড়ক অবরোধ করে রেখেছেন। আমি ও উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা মিজানুর রহমানসহ সবাই মহাসড়কে রয়েছি নেতাকর্মীদের অবরোধ উঠিয়ে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা চলছে।
Translation: “NCP leaders and activists have blocked the road by burning tires. I, Upazila Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman and everyone else are on the highway and efforts are being made to remove the blockade by the leaders and activists.”
The blockade has left hundreds of vehicles on the Dhaka-bound and Gopalganj-bound highways stranded, causing extreme suffering to countless ordinary passengers.
