Eid means new clothes, happiness, and celebration. But for many children from poor families, this joy often remains out of reach.
To help fulfill that dream, a humanitarian initiative has been launched in Saidpur of Nilphamari. A volunteer organization is giving new Eid clothes to underprivileged children for just one taka.
The unique event was organized on Saturday (14 March) in the Golahat area of the town by the online social organization “Amader Priyo Saidpur”.

A “One Taka Shop” for Children

A temporary shop named “One Taka Shop” was set up under a canopy at the field of Saidpur Razzakia Gafuria Dakhil Madrasa.
Inside the shop, rows of new frocks, panjabis, shirts, and pants were neatly arranged. Outside, more than a hundred children stood in line, each holding a one-taka coin or note. Their faces showed excitement—because today they could buy their own Eid clothes.
Young volunteers inside the shop helped the children choose their favorite clothes and find the right size. After receiving one taka, they handed over the new outfit with a smile.

Happiness on Children’s Faces

The joy on the children’s faces was clear as soon as they received their new clothes. Rehan (10) and Akashi (8) from the Golahat area said their families often cannot afford new clothes during Eid because of financial hardship.

Akashi said happily:

“আমি নিজের পছন্দের একটা ফ্রক নিয়েছি। খুব সুন্দর লাগছে। ঈদের দিন এটা পরব।”

Translation: “I chose a frock that I liked. It looks very beautiful. I will wear it on Eid day.”

A Dream Come True for Many

Sabina (12) and Kaushik (8) were also very happy after getting their clothes for one taka. Both of them lost their fathers, and their mother works in other people’s houses to support the family.

Sabina said:

“আমার মা বলেছিলেন হয়তো এবার নতুন জামা হবে না। কিন্তু এখানে এসে এক টাকায় নতুন জামা পেলাম। খুব ভালো লাগছে।”

Translation: “My mother said I might not get new clothes this Eid. But I came here and got a new dress for one taka. I feel very happy.”

Standing beside her, Kaushik said excitedly:

“This Eid I will be able to go out wearing new clothes.”

Volunteers Behind the Initiative

Members of the organization—including Mithun, Samiul, Raja, Rabbi, and Rocky—said many children in society remain deprived during festivals.
They said Eid clothes are a big dream for many poor children, and this initiative aims to fulfill that dream.
The founder of Amader Priyo Saidpur, Naushad Ansari, said the goal of the event is simply to bring smiles to children’s faces.
He explained that the initiative is funded by the organization’s members so that disadvantaged children can choose their own clothes for just one taka.
More Support for the Needy
He also said that, along with clothes for children, the organization is gradually distributing sarees, lungis, three-piece dresses, and Eid food items such as semai, sugar, and milk among needy people. This humanitarian activity will continue until the night before Eid.
