Controversial Comment Sparks Public Reaction
Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, a former Member of Parliament and BNP’s Self-Reliance Affairs Secretary, came under heavy criticism after referring to Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi as a “guinea pig.” Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, was killed in a shooting by assailants.
Nilufar Moni’s comment triggered strong reactions on social media, with many users expressing anger and disappointment over the wording.

Apology and Explanation on Facebook
In response to the criticism, Nilufar Moni issued an apology and clarification on Wednesday (24 December) through a post on her verified Facebook account.
Nilufar Moni wrote:
“শহীদ শরীফ ওসমান হাদির বিষয়ে আমার বক্তব্যটি ভুলভাবে ব্যাখ্যা করা হয়েছে। আমি বলতে চেয়েছি, একদল লোক বিশেষ উদ্দেশ্যে তাকে ব্যবহার করছে। তারা তাকে পরীক্ষাগারের প্রাণীর মতোই নিহত করেছে।”
Translation: “My statement about Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi has been misinterpreted. What I meant was that a group of people used him for specific purposes. They killed him as if he were a laboratory animal.”
Call for Understanding and Expression of Regret
Nilufar Moni further added:
“আমার বক্তব্যটি আক্ষরিকভাবে গ্রহণ না করে এর মূল সুরটি বোঝার জন্য সকলকে অনুরোধ করছি। এ ভুল বোঝাবুঝির জন্য আমি আন্তরিকভাবে দুঃখ প্রকাশ করছি। মহান আল্লাহ ওসমান বিন হাদিকে বেহেস্ত নসিব করুন এই দোয়া করি।”
Translation: “I request everyone not to take my statement literally but to understand its core message. I sincerely apologize for this misunderstanding. I pray that Almighty Allah grants Osman bin Hadi a place in heaven.”
Background
Osman Hadi was shot after Friday prayers on 12 December and later died despite receiving medical treatment. His death has caused widespread grief and debate across political and social platforms.
