NCP Leader’s Remarks on Lockdown and Awami League

NCP’s Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary stated that there is no reason for citizens to be afraid of Awami League’s planned lockdown on November 13. Speaking at a program organized by the National Health Alliance — a joint platform of health professionals and students — at the Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday (November 12), he made strong remarks about Awami League and the country’s current political situation. He said,

Translation: “All parties will be in the field tomorrow. And one Hasnat Abdullah from NCP is enough to stop Awami League on the ground. You don’t need to worry about it. They are politically dead now; only their stench remains in the country.”

Call to Allied Parties to Continue the Movement

Nasiruddin Patwary also urged eight allied parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, to stay firm on their five-point demand, which includes the implementation of the July National Charter and the referendum before the election.

Comments on BNP and Public Sentiment

He mentioned that former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia once had a strong connection with the people’s pulse, which helped BNP grow into one of the country’s major parties. However, he criticized the current leadership for being out of touch with the people.

Criticism of the Interim Government

Nasiruddin Patwary also criticized the interim government, calling it disconnected from the people and ineffective in addressing public demands. He stated,

Translation: “The interim government has become disconnected from the people. In the past year, none of the groups that appealed for their rights have had their demands fulfilled. The government makes promises, but people must take to the streets again to see them fulfilled — this is a shame for the government.”
