Early Struggle and Fraud
In 2021, Nahid Hasan from Rangpur, dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur even before finishing high school, started his online business Nahid’s World with friends and a small capital of Tk 4,000. His first venture selling mangoes ended in disaster when a customer took 250 kg of mangoes worth Tk 17,000 and disappeared.
Online Entrepreneur Nahid said,
‘ব্যবসা শুরুর মাত্র ৮-৯ দিনের মাথায় রাসেল মিয়া নামের এক ব্যক্তি আমার থেকে প্রায় ১৭ হাজার টাকার আম হাতিয়ে নেয়। তখন আমার পুঁজিই ছিল সামান্য। এই ধাক্কা আমার জীবন এলোমেলো করে দেয়। পরিবারের ভয়ে ঘটনাটি কাউকে জানাতে পারিনি। প্রশাসনের কাছে গিয়েও কোনো সাহায্য পাইনি। কিন্তু হার মানিনি।’
Translation: “Just 8–9 days after starting, a person named Russel Mia cheated me of Tk 17,000 worth of mangoes. My capital was very small, and this shock disrupted my life. I couldn’t tell anyone in my family and got no help from authorities. But I didn’t give up.”

Shift to Fish Business
After the mango business failure, Nahid decided to try something unique: delivering fresh river fish directly to customers, avoiding formalin-treated fish. Moving to Dhaka for higher education, he started his fish business with his friend Ratan Mia, using a small rented room as both office and packaging center.
Nahid said,
‘এমনও দিন গেছে, মাছের কার্টন নিয়ে আমাদের বাসে উঠতে দেয়নি। বাসের স্টাফরা বুঝতে পারলেই নামিয়ে দিত। ডেলিভারি দিয়ে ফেরার সময় পকেটে খাওয়ার মতো টাকা থাকত না। অনেক বেলা কলা-রুটি খেয়ে দিন পার করেছি।’
Translation: “There were days when we weren’t allowed to carry fish cartons on buses. Staff would make us get off. After deliveries, we barely had money to eat. Many days we survived on bananas and bread.”
Business Growth and Employment
Now, 35 employees work under Nahid, most of them students or financially weak. Using motorbikes for delivery, his team ensures fresh fish reaches customers across Dhaka. Around 60% of buyers are overseas Bangladeshis, many requesting messages like “Mama, I love you” written on the packaging.
Nahid said,
‘ব্যর্থতা মানেই শেষ নয়, বরং নতুন করে শুরু করার একটি সুযোগ। সঠিক পরিকল্পনা, কঠোর পরিশ্রম আর অদম্য ইচ্ছাশক্তি থাকলে যেকোনো প্রতিকূলতাকে জয় করে সাফল্যের শিখরে পৌঁছানো সম্ভব।’
Translation: “Failure is not the end; it’s a chance to start anew. With proper planning, hard work, and determination, any obstacle can be overcome and success achieved.”

Future Plans and Social Responsibility
Online Entrepreneur Nahid plans to increase employment to 50 people soon and eventually reach 1,000 jobs by 2028. He is also organizing a fish release program in rivers to ensure sustainable fish production. His business not only provides quality food but also contributes to local employment and community support.
Online Entrepreneur Nahid said,
‘আমার ভালো লাগা সবেচেয়ে বড় পাওয়া হলো, যে একসময়ের ঋণগ্রস্ত, দিশাহারা তরুণ আজ অনেকের অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস।’
Translation: “My greatest satisfaction is that a once debt-ridden and hopeless young man has now become an inspiration for many.”
