Pakistan Targets $3 Billion Exports

Highlights:

  • Pakistan sets goal to raise exports to Bangladesh from $800 million to $3 billion in the next few years.
  • FPCCI describes Bangladesh as a global textile and apparel powerhouse and key market for Pakistan.
  • Both countries are working to strengthen political and economic ties after years of strained relations.

Pakistan’s Export Ambition

Pakistan is looking to boost its exports to Bangladesh to $3 billion in the coming years, nearly four times the current level of around $800 million. Pakistan Targets $3 Billion Exports was announced by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) during the 48th DyeChem Bangladesh 2025 Expo held in Dhaka.

Pakistan Targets $3 Billion Exports is one of the biggest trade exhibitions in the region, especially for textile and chemical industries.

According to the FPCCI, Bangladesh is considered a key market for Pakistan’s textile-related industries.

Bangladesh as a Key Market

The FPCCI described Bangladesh as a:

“Global textile and apparel powerhouse”

They highlighted that Bangladesh offers strong opportunities for Pakistani dyestuffs and textile chemicals, especially with its $47 billion textile and apparel industry that continues to grow every year.

Statements from Leaders

FPCCI Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at the expo.

Magoon explained:

“The 48th DyeChem Bangladesh 2025 Expo provides a direct pathway to connect with a $47 billion textile and apparel industry that continues to grow year after year.”

Meanwhile, High Commissioner Haider assured that the embassy would fully support Pakistani exporters seeking to enter the Bangladeshi market.

A New Phase in Relations

The trade push is happening at a time when Pakistan and Bangladesh are working to improve political and economic ties after decades of distance.

In August 2024, the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a student-led movement shifted Bangladesh’s foreign policy approach. Since then, Pakistan has been trying to engage Dhaka more closely.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Dhaka in August 2025 was seen as a breakthrough in rebuilding ties.

Shifting Regional Dynamics

Bangladesh’s relations with India have become tense since New Delhi granted asylum to Sheikh Hasina after she fled the country.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bangladesh have strengthened cooperation by launching direct sea trade in 2024 and expanding government-to-government commerce in 2025.

This new trade drive is seen as part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to improve ties with Bangladesh while also expanding its economic footprint in South Asia.
