Pakistani Model Faces Case for Filming in Mosque Wearing ‘Inappropriate Dress’

Pakistani Model

A case has been filed in Lahore, Pakistan, against Pakistani model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah for allegedly recording a video inside the historic Wazir Khan Mosque without permission. The complaint claims that the model was wearing “inappropriate clothing,” which violated the sanctity of the mosque. The FIR (First Information Report) was registered at Akbari Gate Police Station following a complaint by Muhammad Wais, an official of the World City of Lahore Authority (WCLA). Authorities have started efforts to trace and arrest the accused.

The Case Against the Model and Photographer

On August 13, the Pakistani model and photographer allegedly entered the Wazir Khan Mosque and shot a video without seeking prior approval from the authorities.
The FIR names model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah, accusing them of violating the sanctity of a religious place.

Official Complaint and Statement

Wais, the WCLA officer who filed the complaint, explained the reason behind the case.

He said:

“The model recorded a video inside the mosque wearing ‘inappropriate clothing’ and did not take prior permission from the authorities. This action has been taken to preserve the sanctity of the mosque, and every effort will be made to ensure punishment for the accused.”

Although the incident occurred on August 13, the case was only registered on August 17, after mosque authorities expressed dissatisfaction and urged legal action.

Lack of Details in the FIR

According to police sources, the complaint did not include the addresses or contact details of the accused. Even their identities were not fully verified before the FIR was filed.
This suggests that the complaint was officially registered mainly after pressure from mosque authorities.

Efforts to Find the Accused

Police have confirmed that attempts are being made to locate and arrest the model and photographer.
The Secretary of the Auqaf Department, Dr. Tahir Raza Bukhari, stated:

“An FIR has been registered, and the WCLA is following up on the matter.”
